1047 Games developing movement shooter Empulse as Titanfall spiritual successor
Reports indicate the new project features grappling hooks, wall running, and giant mechs, offering a potential alternative for fans following the cancellation of an unannounced Titanfall title.

1047 Games, the developer behind the arena shooter Splitgate, is currently in development on a new movement shooter reportedly titled Empulse. First identified by Insider Gaming, the project is being characterised as a spiritual successor to the Titanfall franchise. The game draws creative inspiration from both Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, aiming to replicate the high-mobility combat that defined the earlier series.
According to reports from Insider Gaming, which reviewed pre-alpha gameplay footage, the title will feature core movement mechanics including grappling hooks, wall running, and boost pads. The footage also highlighted a Team Deathmatch mode and the presence of giant mechs scattered across the map. One such mech was shown equipped with a shield and a missile launcher, mirroring the heavy combat units seen in the Titanfall series.
The project was initially teased in March during the launch of the second season of Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. At that time, 1047 Games confirmed work on a movement shooter inspired by Titanfall and Black Ops 3 but did not provide a title, teaser, or release window. The recent report from Insider Gaming provides the first specific name for the project, though it remains in the early pre-alpha stage of development.
No official teaser or confirmed release date has been announced by 1047 Games. As the game is still in pre-alpha, features such as mech capabilities and movement mechanics are subject to change before final release. The developer has not yet verified the specific title or the detailed gameplay elements cited in the initial report.
The announcement comes at a significant time for fans of the genre. In April 2025, Electronic Arts cancelled an unannounced Titanfall game, a move that disappointed many supporters of the franchise. While Empulse is not an official sequel or affiliated with EA, its development offers a potential new avenue for players seeking the specific blend of pilot and mech combat that characterised the original Titanfall experience.
