US Marshals arrest Tate brothers in Miami amid new UK criminal charges
Andrew and Tristan Tate were detained in Florida on Saturday as part of a broader international legal effort involving rape, sex trafficking, and pornography charges.
US Marshals arrested Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami on Saturday, executing a sealed warrant in relation to new criminal charges in the United Kingdom. The brothers, who hold dual US-UK citizenship, are now at the centre of an intensifying international legal dispute as British authorities seek their extradition to face 59 new charges.
The allegations against the men, who are self-proclaimed misogynists and former online influencers, span the period between 2010 and 2017. According to reports from the New York Times, Andrew Tate faces seven counts of rape, three counts of sex trafficking, three counts of assault, and 19 charges relating to sexual images of children and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces two new charges of rape, one charge of sexual assault, and three charges of sex trafficking.
These new indictments add to the 21 charges previously announced by British authorities in 2025. The Crown Prosecution Service is moving to extradite the brothers to England to stand trial on these counts. The arrest in Miami facilitates these extradition requests, placing the Tate brothers under the direct jurisdiction of US federal law enforcement for the purpose of international legal proceedings.
Beyond the current UK charges, the brothers face ongoing scrutiny in multiple jurisdictions. They have previously been indicted in Romania on trafficking and rape charges, although a judge threw the indictment out due to procedural issues. There are also ongoing investigations in the United States and Romania, alongside previous accusations of tax evasion and money laundering in the UK.
The Tate brothers have a long history of legal and regulatory friction. They were banned from major platforms including YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for hate speech after running an online school that claimed to teach men how to recruit women into “sexual slavery” and how to generate income through crypto and drop shipping. Their legal troubles date back to 2015, with the White House previously accused of intervening on Andrew Tate’s behalf when customs officials seized his devices.
