Twelve South’s stylish charging tray now delivers more wireless power with a smaller footprint
New compact model prioritises single-device charging with premium build quality

Twelve South has introduced a revised iteration of its Valet wireless charging tray, significantly reducing the device's footprint to better suit compact environments such as nightstands. The new model cuts the depth from 7.5 inches to 4.5 inches, shifting the design focus from a multi-item catchall for wallets and keys to a dedicated station for single items like a smartphone or a pair of glasses.

Technologically, the updated unit leverages the Qi2 standard to increase wireless charging output to 25W, a notable rise from the original 15W capability. This upgrade allows for faster charging of compatible devices, although the company notes that performance may vary depending on the specific smartphone model in use.

The reduction in size and increase in wireless power comes with a trade-off for auxiliary charging. The USB-C side port’s power delivery has been reduced to 10W when the Qi2 charger is active, down from the 15W offered by the larger original model. This adjustment reflects the reconfigured internal power distribution within the more compact chassis.

Priced at $129.99, the new Valet is notably cheaper than the original model’s $179.99 launch price. However, it remains considerably more expensive than many standard Qi2 wireless chargers on the market, a premium attributed to Twelve South’s use of high-end materials. The device features a weighted zinc alloy base and is wrapped in Nappa leather available in black, brown, or taupe.

The upper section of the tray is surrounded by a removable metal frame, which can be swapped with alternate colours sold separately by the manufacturer. The original Valet was debuted at CES earlier this year, and this new iteration aims to address space constraints while maintaining the brand’s reputation for durable, aesthetically focused accessories.
