Tech sector pivots to MANGOS as AI giants prepare for record IPOs
A new acronym emerges to replace FAANG, reflecting the ascendancy of artificial intelligence and agentic companies ahead of major public listings.

The technology sector is undergoing a significant shift in its corporate hierarchy, with the industry moving away from the established FAANG acronym toward a new designation: MANGOS. This change coincides with a wave of high-profile initial public offerings scheduled for June 2026, led by SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI, which are all preparing for potentially record-breaking market debuts.
The term MANGOS stands for Meta, Anthropic, Nvidia, Google, OpenAI, and SpaceX. It was coined by developers @krishdotdev and @lilscoot on the social media platform X, where the phrase has since gone viral. The new grouping reflects a transition in industry dominance from traditional e-commerce and social media giants to companies focused on artificial intelligence and agentic technologies.
SpaceX is set to break IPO records on Friday, while Anthropic is preparing for a pending listing that is also expected to shatter previous benchmarks. OpenAI is currently racing to launch its own potentially record-breaking IPO to match or surpass its rivals. Nvidia’s inclusion in the new acronym highlights its critical role in the ongoing AI infrastructure boom, distinguishing it from the previous decade’s market leaders.
The former FAANG acronym represented Facebook (now Meta), Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Google (now Alphabet). While Amazon and Netflix remain powerful entities, their core businesses in streaming and e-commerce are increasingly viewed as less groundbreaking compared to the rapid expansion of the AI sector. The shift suggests that the next era of market leadership will be defined by autonomous AI capabilities rather than legacy digital services.
Concerns regarding the economic impact of this transition remain, with potential outcomes ranging from a nourishing foundation for a healthy economy to significant unemployment due to job displacement. The adoption of MANGOS as a lasting industry standard is currently speculative and viral rather than institutionalised, but it signals a clear pivot in investor and developer focus toward the new wave of tech overlords.
