Shokz expands open-ear portfolio with OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air
The new models succeed the OpenDots One, utilising Bluetooth 6.1 and offering distinct feature sets for consumers seeking environmental awareness without active noise cancellation.

Shokz has released two new iterations of its open-ear audio line, the OpenDots 2 and the OpenDots Air, succeeding the original OpenDots One model launched in May 2025. The devices maintain the manufacturer’s signature clip-on design, which sits behind the ear to project sound into the ear canal without occluding it. This architecture is intended to provide greater comfort and environmental awareness compared to traditional in-ear wireless earbuds, though neither model includes Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
The entry-level OpenDots Air is priced at $129.95, positioning it over $70 below the previous generation’s launch price. Weighing 6.3 grams per bud, the Air model features Shokz’ Bassphere acoustic structure, utilising dual 11.8mm drivers to enhance bass response, loudness, and clarity. The device supports up to nine hours of playback, extending to 36 hours with the charging case, and incorporates AI algorithms to reduce background noise during calls. It is available in black or daybreak purple.
At the premium end of the spectrum, the OpenDots 2 is priced at $199.95 and weighs 6.4 grams per bud. While sharing the dual-driver system with the Air, the OpenDots 2 adds Dolby Audio support and a bone-conduction microphone designed to isolate the user’s voice from ambient noise during calls. The charging case for this model supports Qi wireless charging and offers up to 10 hours of playback, bringing the total battery life to 40 hours. It is available in pearl white, gray, and black.
Both models utilise Bluetooth 6.1 technology and support multipoint connectivity, allowing simultaneous connection to two devices. Users can customise equalisation settings via the Shokz mobile app, with presets including a voice-boosting mode for podcasts and audiobooks, as well as a privacy mode that attenuates higher frequencies in quiet environments. The OpenDots Air also feature dynamic ear detection, removing the need to distinguish between left and right buds.
Location tracking capabilities differ between the two models. While both can be located via the Shokz app within Bluetooth range, the OpenDots 2 include compatibility with Google’s Find Hub app. This integration allows users to view the last known location of the earbuds even when they are outside Bluetooth range, addressing a common pain point for open-ear devices.
