Remedy’s Control sequel launches in September
PlayStation showcase reveals sequel details and preorder options

Remedy Entertainment has officially confirmed that Control Resonant, the sequel to its 2019 title Control, will launch on September 24, 2026. The announcement was made during Tuesday’s PlayStation State of Play showcase, where a new trailer premiered alongside details regarding the game’s narrative direction and commercial availability.

The sequel marks a significant shift in perspective for the franchise. Dylan Faden, the brother of the original game’s protagonist, will serve as the sole playable character. This marks a departure from the first title, which centred on Jesse Faden. According to a blog post by Remedy’s Mikael Kasurinen, Jesse will not be directly controlled by the player but will instead influence the narrative and shape the path taken throughout the game.

The story is set to delve deeper into the Faden family’s history. Kasurinen noted that the narrative explores the complicated past of the siblings, with Dylan having been imprisoned for much of the events in the original Control. The developer indicated that the cost of their burdens is about to come due, promising to push the characters further than they have gone before.

Commercial availability for the title begins immediately, with preorders now open. Remedy has structured a tiered release model for early adopters, with the Digital Deluxe Edition offering 48-hour early access to the game. This edition also includes additional digital assets, such as an artbook and the game’s soundtrack.

The announcement follows a period of anticipation for the title, which has been a subject of interest since the release of the original Control. The September 2026 date provides a clear timeline for investors and consumers tracking Remedy’s development pipeline, with the PlayStation showcase serving as the primary platform for the initial reveal.
