Philips Unveils AI-Driven Sonicare Toothbrush with Real-Time Oral Feedback
The Dutch consumer electronics giant is set to release its latest smart oral care device in Europe and the US this autumn, with a broader global launch scheduled for 2027.

Philips has introduced the Sonicare Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, a smart electric toothbrush that utilises third-generation artificial intelligence to track brushing movements and provide immediate feedback to users. The device aims to refine oral hygiene routines by identifying areas that require additional attention through a dedicated touchscreen interface.
The product features a mouth map display that divides the teeth and gums into 12 distinct segments. These areas are highlighted in blue or orange to indicate the effectiveness of the brushing process. Areas deemed insufficiently cleaned glow orange, guiding the user to target those specific zones during a second pass. The touchscreen also allows users to navigate through eight distinct cleaning modes, including options for gum health, maximum clean, and sensitive care.
To mitigate the risk of gum damage caused by excessive force, the toothbrush incorporates a glowing base ring that changes colour to indicate pressure levels. Additionally, built-in pressure sensors automatically adjust the bristle intensity when the user presses too hard, ensuring a gentler cleaning action. These features are designed to provide real-time corrections during the brushing session.
Pricing for the new model has not been confirmed by Philips. However, previous iterations of the Sonicare DiamondClean series have retailed for approximately $430, suggesting the Prestige version will likely command a premium price point. The company has not disclosed specific launch dates beyond the scheduled release in Europe and the US this autumn.
A wider global rollout for the Sonicare Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige is planned for 2027. As Philips continues to integrate advanced technology into consumer health products, this launch marks a significant step in the convergence of artificial intelligence and personal care devices.
