MoEngage acquires Aampe in tens of millions of dollars deal to deploy AI agents
The all-cash transaction brings Aampe’s behavioural AI technology and 20 staff to MoEngage, which recently raised $280 million.

Indian customer engagement software firm MoEngage has acquired San Francisco-based startup Aampe in an all-cash transaction valued at tens of millions of dollars. The deal grants MoEngage access to Aampe’s proprietary technology, which assigns dedicated artificial intelligence agents to individual customers to personalise messaging based on behavioural data rather than traditional audience segments.
MoEngage co-founder and chief executive Raviteja Dodda stated that the acquisition is designed to help the company capture enterprise customers migrating from rival platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Adobe Experience Cloud. Dodda noted that MoEngage has recently secured three to four multi-million-dollar annual contract value deals with clients switching from Salesforce, and expects the Aampe technology to accelerate these migrations.
Founded in 2020, Aampe has grown its annual recurring revenue by 150% over the past 12 months and serves more than 30 customers across the United States, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. The startup’s technology is currently utilised by brands including Swiggy, Grab, and Taxfix. Approximately 20 Aampe employees will join MoEngage, bringing the Indian firm’s total workforce to roughly 820 people.
The acquisition reflects a broader shift in the software industry, where companies are embedding AI deeper into enterprise applications. This evolution moves beyond tools that generate content or assist employees, towards autonomous agents that make decisions on which customers to target, what messages to send, and when to send them.
MoEngage recently raised $280 million through a mix of primary and secondary transactions. Aampe had previously raised approximately $28 million across three funding rounds, with investors including Peak XV Partners, Z47, and Theory Ventures. The exact financial terms of the all-cash deal were not disclosed by MoEngage.
