Meta introduces AI creator assistant on Facebook to retain talent amid platform competition
The social media giant is rolling out a conversational AI assistant for creators alongside expanded translation capabilities for Reels, signalling a strategic push to keep creators within its ecosystem.

Meta has launched a new AI creator assistant on Facebook, designed to provide personalised recommendations based on content style, performance, community dynamics, and creator goals. The tool allows users to ask conversational questions regarding posting schedules and audience sentiment, offering immediate insights that previously required manual parsing of charts and dashboards. By enabling follow-up queries, such as analysing how an audience has shifted over time, the assistant aims to streamline performance analysis for creators.
The assistant is initially rolling out to creators in the United States, Canada, and India, with Meta stating plans to add new capabilities and expand to further countries in the future. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to retain creators within its ecosystem as it competes for their attention against rivals such as TikTok and YouTube. By offering in-app access to AI-driven insights and content ideas, Meta seeks to reduce creators' reliance on third-party tools like ChatGPT for brainstorming and performance tracking.
Beyond performance metrics, the tool suggests content ideas based on current trends, such as utilising trending audio or creating content around cultural moments. This focus on encouraging frequent posting is intended to boost user engagement on the platform. The answers provided are tailored to the creator’s specific presence, offering actionable advice on how to improve performance based on their unique data.
Concurrently, Meta announced expanded AI translation capabilities for Reels, adding support for Arabic, Bahasa Indonesian, French, Thai, and Vietnamese. Launched last year, the feature allows creators to reach broader audiences by breaking down language barriers while preserving the original tone and sound. Creators can also utilise a lip-sync feature to align the translation with their lip movements, enhancing the naturalness of the content.
Meta reports that over half a billion users on Facebook are now watching AI-translated videos weekly. The combination of the new creator assistant and expanded translation tools underscores the company’s effort to keep creators active and engaged on Facebook, leveraging artificial intelligence to simplify content creation and distribution in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.
