Dreame unveils modular smartphone concept and luxury Aurora phone series at California event

Chinese robot vacuum manufacturer Dreame has showcased two new smartphone concepts at its Next event in California, marking a significant diversification for the firm known primarily for home appliances. The presentation introduced the modular Aurora Nex LS1 and the luxury-focused Aurora Lux series, both of which remain concept devices with no confirmed launch date.
The Aurora Nex LS1 distinguishes itself through a magnetic attachment point designed for interchangeable rear modules. Dreame has outlined five potential configurations, including a triple camera system allegedly featuring a 1-inch-type sensor and a 115mm equivalent telephoto lens, alongside options for an action camera, a fan, and a satellite communications module.
In contrast, the Aurora Lux series is presented as a collection of 29 distinct designs unified by a focus on opulent materials. The reported specifications for this line include gold plating, leather finishes, and gemstones, with some models incorporating unique features such as analog clocks or non-standard camera bar layouts.
Both devices are set to run the proprietary Aurora AIOS operating system, which Dreame describes as being designed around proactive service rather than passive response. The company plans to release this software in the second half of 2026, a timeline that suggests the hardware will likely follow suit in the same period.
Dreame's entry into the smartphone market aligns with broader industry experimentation, echoing similar modular attempts by other manufacturers such as Tecno earlier this year. However, the specific camera specifications claimed for the concepts, including a 200-megapixel sensor and support for Lofic HDR processing, remain unverified until official hardware releases.
The launch event also featured other ambitious concepts, including a rocket-boosted electric car, a laundry robot, and a television with moving speakers, underscoring Dreame's current strategy to dream big across multiple consumer electronics sectors.
