Argentina and Spain set for World Cup final at MetLife Stadium
The 48-nation tournament reaches its climax on Sunday with the first-ever FIFA World Cup half-time show, while domestic US leagues continue their seasons.

Spain and Argentina are scheduled to contest the FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 19. The match concludes a tournament featuring 48 nations, with the final programme set to include the first half-time show in FIFA World Cup history, curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
The path to the final was secured by Argentina’s 2-1 semi-final victory over England at Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. England took the lead through Anthony Gordon before Argentina equalised and secured the win with a stoppage-time goal from Lautaro Martinez. Enzo Fernandez also scored for the Albiceleste in the second half.
Lionel Messi is attempting to lead Argentina to back-to-back World Cup titles, a feat last achieved by Brazil in 1962. Spain, managed under the current squad leadership, will oppose Messi’s side in the decisive match. Thomas Tuchel, who coached England, saw his team eliminated after the late collapse against Argentina.
France and England will play for third place on Saturday, July 18. The weekend’s schedule also features significant domestic league action across the United States, including MLS, USL, and NWSL fixtures.
CBS Sports Golazo Network will provide up to 12 hours of live programming per matchday. Coverage includes Morning Footy, Golazo Matchday, Golazo Matchnight, and Scoreline, available across the network and its YouTube channel. Other weekend matches include LA Galaxy versus Los Angeles FC in the MLS, and NWSL clashes between Denver Summit FC and Portland Thorns, as well as Bay FC and North Carolina Courage.
