Microsoft’s $5,999.99 AI desktop opens for pre-orders
The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box pairs a 6,144-core GPU with 128GB of memory and a 2TB SSD in a vent-covered desktop designed for AI development.

Microsoft has opened pre-orders for the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a $5,999.99 desktop designed for AI development that it showed at its AI-focused Windows event.
Engadget’s look at the machine found a long, relatively thin case on an elevated base, with a dense grid of vents. The device’s size and base give it a substantial desk footprint.
Reported specifications include a 6,144-core GPU, 128GB of memory and a 2TB SSD. The device was not powered on at the event, leaving its heat output under demanding workloads unobserved.
Engadget reports three USB-C ports, a headphone jack, HDMI, Ethernet and USB-A on the back. The desktop has no card slot.
Microsoft has not shared the machine’s weight. Engadget estimated it at 5 to 6 pounds or more based on handling it, but that is not a confirmed specification.
