Rivian’s 2026.36 software update adds a Pet Cam for R2 owners, according to Engadget. Drivers can view the vehicle’s interior camera through the Rivian app, either as a live feed or as refreshed snapshots.

Snapshots can also appear on a phone’s lockscreen, offering a quick view without opening the app. Engadget reports that the camera feed can be stopped from the vehicle’s main display.

The update also adds the ability to turn Pet Mode on or off through the app. The mode provides climate control for animals left in the vehicle; confirmation prompts when changing its status are intended to help prevent accidental toggles. Engadget says the app controls will be available across Rivian models.

Rivian Assistant is also debuting in R2 vehicles. Already available in R1 models, the voice assistant can handle simple tasks involving navigation, entertainment and climate, Engadget reports.
