Mecka AI has announced a $60 million Series B led by Sequoia, with Nvidia, Microsoft’s venture fund M12 and other investors participating, according to TechCrunch.

Founded in 2024, the startup collects human-motion data to train humanoid and other robots. It pays people to record everyday tasks while wearing body sensors and using smartphones.

The model draws on human-generated data used to train artificial intelligence systems. Mecka aims to provide robotics with a data supply similar to the role played by data-labelling companies for large language models.

TechCrunch previously reported that Mecka was nearing a funding round at a $500 million valuation. The source report does not confirm that valuation for the Series B.

The announcement did not specify how much each investor contributed or how Mecka plans to use the proceeds.
