The United Arab Emirates prosecutor general says a Flydubai co-pilot used a crash axe against the captain and tried to take control of the aircraft during flight FZ1073 on Wednesday.

Hamad Saif al-Shamsi described the incident as an attempted “terrorist act” on Saturday, according to state news agency WAM. The description is the prosecutor general’s characterisation; the investigation is not complete.
