Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01, a four-door electric GT that will lead the British marque’s relaunch. The model is expected to reach US dealerships in mid-2027, with a projected price of US$120,000–130,000.

The car is built on Jaguar’s new JEA platform, which is intended to underpin an all-electric product line. It follows the I-Pace and a planned electric sedan that was cancelled before reaching showrooms.

Jaguar reports a usable 118 kWh battery and estimates a range of about 400 miles (644 km). A formal US EPA range estimate is expected closer to launch. The company says a 350 kW DC charger can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes.

Jaguar quotes output of 1,015 hp and 1,007 lb-ft of torque, alongside all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering. The car also uses silicon carbide inverters and a traction control system informed by the company’s Formula E programme. These are manufacturer claims; the source provides no independent performance or range testing.

The Type 01’s design has drawn sharp criticism online, though the reaction described in the source is anecdotal and does not establish broader public opinion. For Jaguar, the launch puts the focus on whether a premium electric GT can anchor the brand’s return after a gap in new models.
