Eight Sleep’s Pod 6 cuts footprint, adds solo option
The company says its new sleep system is 20% faster at temperature adjustments and starts at $1,999 for solo sizes.
Eight Sleep has launched Pod 6, a temperature-controlled sleep system with a smaller hub and a new Solo option. The company says the device’s footprint is 50% smaller than the previous generation, allowing it to fit more bed frames.
Eight Sleep says Pod 6 adjusts temperatures 20% faster and has nine times more sensors than its predecessor. The sensors are designed to distinguish users’ temperature needs, including filtering out data from a pet or child sharing the bed.
The system is available in more than 37 countries. Prices start at $1,999 for Solo sizes and $2,699 for standard sizes. Solo fits a Twin bed or one side of a larger bed; standard sizes are Queen, King and California King.
Pod 6 works with existing Eight Sleep add-ons, including its blanket, pillow cover and base. The company is also pursuing US Food and Drug Administration approval for a sleep-apnoea medical device; the source did not report approval or a timeline.
Eight Sleep raised $50 million from Tether earlier this year at a reported $1.5 billion valuation. CEO Matteo Franceschetti told TechCrunch that international markets contribute more than 30% of revenue, while the company is monitoring electronics component supply constraints.
